Welcome friends, family, enemies, strangers…really whoever you are. This blog will drop every Friday with events I am looking forward to (or at least would wish to go to) all around Northeast Wisconsin.
Friday – This is a tough one because there are TWO shows I wish I could see (I only say wish because clearly I will be at work). The first one I would like to point out is Dueling Pianos w/ NEW Piano Guys. I’ve never been to a dueling piano show, but as a former music major and someone who had to study up on the basics of piano, I can appreciate the pure talent these two must possess. The show starts at 6pm @ Gather On Broadway. Go there and give them your best!
The second show I would like to highlight starts at 7pm at the Kewaunee County Fairgrounds. That’s right, HAIRBALL! I first saw this band when I was in college at UW-Superior and they played across the bridge in Duluth, MN. They are primarily an 80’s cover band, but they are not your average cover band. They have a stage setup, light show & pyrotechnics that is as professional as it gets. Not only that, but the lead singers who each take their turn DRESS UP JUST LIKE THE SINGER OF THE BANDS THEY ARE COVERING. That’s right, the big spiked shoulder pads of Twisted Sister, the hat famously worn by AC/DC and even the hair of Axel Rose. If you love 80’s music and a good show. I HIGHLY recommend you go check them out.
Saturday – For Saturday, I’ve only got one recommendation because that’s all you need. Saliva will be headlining Zippel Park in Gillett. Remember Saliva? Click, Click, Boom!, Your Disease & Ladies and Gentlemen? Yeah, those guys. I’ve seen them live a couple of times and they put on a good show and sure have been putting on their best shows here in Wisconsin. But let’s not forgot about the band playing before them. That would Jamie Fontaine & The Level right out of good ol’ Green Bay, Wisconsin. They combine hard rock with grunge under the unique vocals and songwriting style of Mr. Jamie Fontaine. You also will have to give it up to the rhythm section of Joseph Weise layin’ down bass lines and Colby Peters on the drums keepin’ it real.. They are a tight knit group and a perfect band to segue into Saliva. Jamie Fontaine & The Level start around 8:45pm with Saliva to follow.
Sunday – This is always a tough one because if there’s one thing Northeast Wisconsin knows how to do, it’s Sunday Funday. There are actually 3 events I am going to highlight here.
The first one is the very talented Pat Schorr playing at the Sardine Can in Green Bay starting at 4pm. If you haven’t seen Pat or Shaker & The Egg in the past, you really need to. Pat is a great talent with a wide repertoire and fantastic stage presence. Plus, the outside patio for the Sardine Can is a pretty cool place to hang out during the summer in Green Bay.
The second event happening on Sunday is A-Town Unplugged poolside at Tanner’s in Kimberly starting at 5pm. Really, what else needs to be said about this? You’re chillin’ poolside, or even IN the pool, with great live music and a drink in hand living your best life. Tanner’s in Kimberly is one of the ultimate outdoor patio areas in Northeast Wisconsin.
And finally, the last event I want to mention is Spitfire Rodeo playing at Fox Harbor in Green Bay starting at 6pm. Another nice patio area that sets the vibe right along the Fox River. I’ve enjoyed many a Sunday Funday at Fox Harbor and let me tell you, they never disappoint.
There you have it, my first #OnTheGointhe92Oh! blog for the summer. If you see me out and about at any of these, don’t be afraid to say hi and add me on Instagram, Snap Chat or Twitter @whatthechuck99
