A 36-year-old homeless man was found dead in Oshkosh over the weekend.
The Winnebago County Sheriff’s Department says the man was in a ditch by the 9th Street on ramp to I-41 South, near Washburn Street, on Saturday afternoon.
Matt Johnson is the executive director of the Day By Day Warming Shelter in Oshkosh. He says their organization and many others are trying desperately to prevent incidents like that. He says unfortunately, they don’t have the resources to help everyone that needs it.
Johnson says their shelter can take in 25 people every night, and it’s on a first-come, first-serve basis. He says they have had to turn people away already this season.
