Concert: Christina Perri

<img src="http://radioadmin.wcinet.com/i/ct/s__christinaperri_1427-543x320.jpg" width="120" height="71"" border="0" align="left" vspace="4" hspace="4">May 18, 2012 @ 8:00 pm
Majestic
115 King Street
Madison, WI
Tickets: $18 Advance / $20 Day of Show

Christina Perri with special guests Sleeping At Last

In July 2010, a struggling singer-songwriter and musician named Christina Perri had a life-changing moment when she was asked to perform a song she had written, a defiant break-up anthem called “Jar of Hearts,” on the Fox show So You Think You Can Dance. The raw, emotional quality of her performance connected with viewers and catapulted the 24-year-old Philadelphia native into the public eye. “Jar of Hearts” went on to sell a million downloads and land Perri, who was then supporting herself as a café manager in Beverly Hills, a deal with Atlantic Records.
The challenges posed to Dunham by his diverse characters including Walter, Bubba J, Peanut, José Jalapeno and Achmed the Dead Terrorist are among the reasons Dunham’s Comedy Central specials have been some of the most watched in the cable channel’s history. It’s also no wonder that he was named “the most popular comedian in the United States” by Time Magazine.
Concert: The Addams Family
Appleton, WI
The weird and wonderful family comes to devilishly delightful life in The Addams Family. This magnificently macabre new musical comedy is “a visually satisfying, rib-tackling, lunatic musical that will entertain you to death!,” says Toronto Post City. Created by Jersey Boys authors Marshall Brickman and Rick Elice, Drama Desk-winning composer/lyricist Andrew Lippa (The Wild Party), choreographer Sergio Trujillo (Jersey Boys) and Olivier Award-winning director/designers Phelim McDermott and Julian Crouch (Shockheaded Peter) with creative consultation by four-time Tony Award® winner Jerry Zaks, The Addams Family “is full of charm, wit and surprises that explain why it’s a hit on its national tour” (CBS New Orleans).

The Addams Family features an original story and it’s every father’s nightmare. Wednesday Addams, the ultimate princess of darkness, has grown up and fallen in love with a sweet, smart young man from a respectable family. A man her parents have never met. And if that weren’t upsetting enough, she confides in her father and begs him not to tell her mother. Now, Gomez Addams must do something he’s never done before — keep a secret from his beloved wife, Morticia. Everything will change for the whole family on the fateful night they host a dinner for Wednesday’s “normal” boyfriend and his parents.
Appleton, WI
Winner of Five 2011 Tony® Awards!

A remarkable tale of courage, loyalty and friendship.

England, 1914. As World War I begins, Joey, young Albert’s beloved horse, is sold to the cavalry and shipped from England to France. He’s soon caught up in enemy fire, and fate takes him on an extraordinary journey, serving on both sides before finding himself alone in no man’s land. But Albert cannot forget Joey and, still not old enough to enlist, he embarks on a treacherous mission to find him and bring him home.

This powerfully moving and imaginative drama, filled with stirring music and songs, is a show of phenomenal inventiveness that is currently playing to packed houses in London and New York. At its heart are astonishing life-sized puppets created by South Africa’s Handspring Puppet Company, that bring to life breathing, galloping, charging horses strong enough for men to ride.
