The number of confirmed coronavirus cases tied to three meat plants in Brown County is now up to 580.
That’s 60 percent of the county-wide total.
JBS in Green Bay closed voluntarily, and 262 workers there now have COVID-19. Eighty-six other cases are connected to them. President Trump is ordering all meat plants around the country to stay open.
Claire Paprocki of the county health department says they’ll have to follow CDC and OSHA guidelines. She says the county has been talking with officials at the plants on a daily, and sometimes hourly basis.
The county is reporting 170 workers at American Foods Group in Green Bay have coronavirus, and 27 more cases are linked to that outbreak.
Salm Partners in Denmark offered to test all workers for free, and 35 were positive.
