This weekend's installment of Saturday Night Live was turned into a tribute to Prince, who appeared several times on the NBC show over the decades.
Hosted by Jimmy Fallon, the show rounded up all of Prince's performances on SNL, and also featured footage of him performing "Let's Go Crazy" at last year's 40th anniversary party, backed up by a crowd that included Chris Rock, Bill Murray, Maya Rudolph and others.
The performances included "Party Up," from 1981, "Electric Chair," from the show's 1989 15th anniversary special, "Fury" and "Beautiful, Loved and Blessed" from 2006, and "Clouds," "Marz" and "Another Love"…
Just as her much-hyped HBO special came to an end on Saturday night, Beyonce released her latest musical offering: a new visual album called Lemonade.
The 12-track album tells the painful story of the "baddest woman in the game" whose lover cheats on her. It takes the listener on an emotional journey, from the first signs of infidelity in a relationship to, ultimately, forgiveness.
Here's a look at each track and its accompanying visual:
"Pray You Can Catch Me" When we're introduced to Beyonce, she's almost unrecognizable, standing in a field, wearing a black hoodie to cover up her signature…
Gwen Stefani announced earlier this week that she and boyfriend Blake Shelton have recorded a duet on Blake’s new album. Now, Blake is speaking out about their “personal” collaboration on the tune “Go Ahead and Break My Heart.”
The country singer tells Entertainment Tonight it’s one of the best songs he’s ever written. “I hesitate to brag on it too much but I really think that it's as good of a song as I've ever written in my life,” he says.
He adds that writing and recording it with Gwen made it all the more special. “[The song] is very…
The body of Prince Rogers Nelson was released to his family on Friday afternoon; on Saturday, they, along with friends and colleagues, said goodbye to the legendary musician, who died suddenly Thursday at the age of 57.
A statement from Prince's rep to ABC News states, "A few hours ago, Prince was celebrated by a small group of his most beloved: family, friends and his musicians, in a private, beautiful ceremony to say a loving goodbye. Prince’s remains have been cremated and their final storage will remain private."
The statement adds, "We ask for your blessings and prayers of comfort…
"I was served lemons, but I made lemonade." According to Beyonce's HBO film project Lemonade, that's something her grandmother once said, and something, it appears, that she herself may have gone through.
The one-hour HBO film turned out to be an accompaniment to Bey's brand-new "visual album" Lemonade, which arrived exclusively on Tidal after the end of the film. The 12-track album features the advance single "Formation," and guest appearances by Jack White, The Weeknd, James Blake and Kendrick Lamar.
Lemonade follows the "surprise release" concept of her self-titled 2013 album, though she'd been teasing the project for months with…
In 1996 Prince appeared on The Oprah Winfrey Show, and, in honor of the late singer, Winfrey's OWN network will be re-airing the episode this Saturday, April 23, at 8 p.m.
The episode, which originally aired on November 21, 1996, was Prince's first interview after his name change, according to the network. It features Prince taping a segment at Winfrey's West Loop studio and the media mogul visiting Prince at his Paisley Park recording studio in Minnesota, where the singer died Thursday morning at age 57. The interview is said to highlight the artist's thoughts on his musical genius, lifestyle, soul mate…
When Prince died suddenly Thursday at the age of 57, John Mayer was many artists who took to Instagram to salute him, calling him a "pure, enormous TALENT" and an "icon," and noting, "Guitar players (and all musicians) everywhere will be picking up a much heavier instrument today." Tonight on ABC's 20/20, John pays further tribute to Prince, calling him the "greatest pop musician who ever lived."
"The loss that an artist feels when another artist dies is hard to explain because you don’t want to sound like you’re making more out of it than you deserve to," John says…
As so often happens when a musician dies, sales of Prince's music are going through the roof -- especially since his music isn't widely available for streaming. In fact, the late legend, who died Thursday at age 57, could very well score his first #1 album in 10 years.
Billboard reports that sales of The Very Best of Prince could top more than 150,000 in sales by the end of this week. The 2001 compilation includes 13 of his 19 top-10 hits, like "Kiss," "Purple Rain" and "Let's Go Crazy." If it reaches #1, it'll be Prince's first chart-topping disc…
The soundtrack for the upcoming romantic drama, Me Before You, rounds up songs from Ed Sheeran, Imagine Dragons and X Ambassadors.
The album -- which is available for pre-order today -- features Ed’s hit, “Photograph,” as well as a new song from Imagine Dragons called “Not Today” and an orchestral remix of X Ambassadors’ “Unsteady.” The “Unsteady (Erich Lee Gravity Remix)” is available as an instant grat track; the video for it is out now.
The soundtrack will be released on June 3, the same day as the film. Me Before You is based on the best-selling book by Jojo…
What caused the death of Prince, who died suddenly Thursday at age 57? We are one step closer to finding out.
The autopsy on the late musician was completed at 1 p.m. CT on Friday; however, in a statement, the Chief Medical Examiner for the Midwest Medical Examiner's Office noted that more medical information and test results need to be gathered, which could take several days, while toxicology tests might take weeks.
Just before 4 p.m. ET, the Midwest Medical Examiner's Office tweeted, "The body of Prince Rogers Nelson has left [our] office and been released to his family."
Did Justin Bieber make a tasteless comment about Prince just hours after news of his death broke? The Internet seems to think so, but his rep tells Gossip Cop the story isn't true.
A screenshot of an Instagram comment, apparently from the Biebs, was making the rounds online Friday in which he seemingly disses the late musical icon on a tribute post made by guitarist Andrew Watt.
Watt wrote an emotional message about Prince on the social media platform, describing him as "the last of the greatest living performers." To which Justin allegedly responded, “Well not the last greatest living…
Adam Levine, Blake Shelton, Christina Aguilera and Pharrell Williams are quite different musically, but they have one thing in common, besides being on The Voice: they all loved Prince.
Prince was a huge influence on Maroon 5, and Adam Levine had even jammed with him in the past. Speaking to Access Hollywood on Thursday, not long after the news of the music legend's sudden death, Adam said, "This one really hurts. Y'know, it's not only someone who I absolutely idolized in so many ways, but it's somebody that I knew on a personal level and shared some pretty amazing experiences…
