We knew the announcement was coming.  Now Queen and Adam Lambert have confirmed they're hitting the road together for a North American tour. Lamberthas performed with the legendary British rock group on a number of occasions, both in the U.S. and overseas, but he and Queen have never actually toured in the U.S.  That changes beginning June 19 at Chicago's United Center, the first of 19 dates in all in the U.S. and Canada, wrapping July 20 at the Merriweather Post Pavilion in Washington, D.C. When he performs with Queen, Lambert stands in for the band's founding lead singer, Freddie…

Lorde Says Her Concerts Are "Unsettling to Look At"

Lorde is fond of referring to herself as "weird" and she says that applies to her current U.S. headlining tour as well. Speaking to the Wall Street Journal about how her live shows compare to those of other contemporary pop artists, the 17-year-old singer insists, "I'm too weird as a performer to copy anyone else. I kind of thrash around [on stage]. It's unsettling to look at.  But I can't dance." Despite her unique performance style, Lorde has been receiving great reviews for her tour, which just kicked off this past week in Austin, Texas.  Rolling Stone, which put Lorde…

Report: Katy & John Split Due to Age Gap, Fundamental Differences

Ever since we got word that Katy Perry and John Mayer  had broken up, rumors have been flying as to the "real" reason behind their split.  But now, a new report claims that it may have simply come down to an everyday, mundane reason: they couldn't overcome their fundamental differences. A source close to John tells People magazine, "They're two very strong-willed people. Despite caring about each other very much and wanting to make it work, they are, at their core, quite different."  One way the two are different, an industry insider tells People, is in their ages.  John is…

OneRepublic to Release Brand New Song Next Week?

OneRepublic is currently on tour in Europe in support of their latest album Native, but if what Ryan Tedder said on stage recently is true, we may be hearing some new music from the band that isn't included on that disc. Speaking during a concert in Amsterdam earlier this week, Ryan told the crowd, "There was a song that was written about the same time, within two months of 'Counting Stars' that we thought [would be] the first single from the album. But I couldn't figure out what the chorus was, I couldn't finish it, and so we pushed it…

Pharrell's "Happy" Is #1 Again; The Fray Debut in Top 10

Pharrell Williams may have missed out on an Oscar this past Sunday night, but he's got to be "Happy" that his nominated song is still on top of the charts. "Happy," from Despicable Me 2, is #1 for a second week on the Billboard Hot 100, and it should remain there for a third week, after the full impact of Pharrell's Oscar performance is felt.  The current chart only reflects three days' worth of post-Oscar sales.  But "Happy" may not even need an Oscar boost: the infectious track sold more than 400,000 copies last week.  It's the first song to…

American Idol continues Wednesday night on Fox as the remaining 12 contestants perform songs with the theme of "Home."  But the woman who actually went home last week -- Wild Card contestant Kristen O'Connor -- wonders what would have happened if last week, she hadn't been talked out of doing the song she really wanted to do.
