Sam Smith’s upcoming debut album, In the Lonely Hour, is a deeply personal one. He says it was inspired by a heartbreaking experience. The British musician explains to The Fader, "In the Lonely Hour is about a guy that I fell in love with last year, and he didn’t love me back." Lady Gaga Forced to Cancel Concert Dates Due to Bronchitis

Lady Gaga was forced to cancel her Wednesday night concert in Seattle, Washington, as well as an upcoming performance in Vancouver, British Columbia, on Friday, due to a severe case of bronchitis. On Wednesday, the 28-year-old pop diva tweeted a picture of Ursula, the Sea Witch, the character from Disney's The Little Mermaid who steals Ariel's voice. Madonna Among List of Highest-Grossing Touring Artists Since 1990

Today's music charts may belong to younger artists, but when it comes to successful tours, it's the veteran acts that rule.  Billboard Boxscore has compiled a list of the top 25 music stars whose tours have raked in the most money since 1990, and the tally is dominated by artists over the age of 40, and many of whom are older than 50. Apple to Acquire Beats Music & Beats Electronics

Earlier this month, there were initial reports that Apple was looking to acquire Beats Electronics and Beats Music, founded in 2008 by Dr. Dre and Jimmy Iovine. Now it's official.  Apple has announced that the companies are being acquired for a total of $3 billion.  The deal is expected to close by the end of September. The deal is the most expensive acquisition in Apple’s 38-year history and includes the subscription streaming music service Beats Music, and Beats Electronics, maker of Beats headphones, speakers and audio software. Madonna Gets Out of Jury Duty with Doctor's Note

Madonna was expected in a New York City court on Tuesday potentially to serve jury duty, but she was a no-show.  She had a valid excuse, though. A source tells ABC News that a doctor's note was presented to the court on her behalf, indicating that she was unwell.  Madonna will be assigned a future date on which she will be scheduled to appear in court for jury duty.
