Hillary Clinton gives Katy Perry's shoe sales a big boost

Earlier this week, Katy Perry promoted her new shoe line by posting a photo of one of her friends wearing a pair.  That friend happened to be Hillary Clinton, and shoppers responded accordingly. Katy posted the photo of Clinton on Twitter and Instagram wearing a pump which Katy has named "The Hillary."  It's a $139 suede pump with a Lucite heel with moons and stars embedded within.  Katy invited fans to her online store to buy the shoe, and others, at a 25% discount. According to the New York Times, by Wednesday morning, the Instagram post had more than 300,000…

Lorde reveals "Melodrama"'s concept and her "reverence" for "holy" pop music

It turns out that Lorde's new album, Melodrama, due in June, is a concept album...kind of. Speaking to the New York Times, Lorde says she decided that the songs on Melodrama should tell the story of a house party, so she could string together different moods and emotions and have them all fit together somehow.  "With a party, there’s that moment where a great song comes on and you’re ecstatic,” she tells the Times. “And then there’s that moment later on where you’re alone in the bathroom, looking in the mirror, you don’t think you look good, and you start…

The Chainsmokers reveal what inspired "Paris" -- and no, it wasn't Paris

The Chainsmokers' top-10 hit "Paris" wasn't written in Paris, and the French city didn't inspire it, either.  As the duo explains in a track-by-track description of their new album posted on Facebook, it was actually inspired by a friend of theirs whose life was out of control. The duo writes, "Paris was written in Stockholm (although we had just visited Paris days before) late one night after a show. It started with the lyrics, 'we were staying in Paris' and unfolded from there. The lyrics may seem vague at first, but their inspiration comes from a real place." Specifically, the…

Orlando Bloom on breakup with Katy Perry: "We're friends"

Apparently there are no hard feeling between Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom following the couple's breakup last month. "We're friends," the British actor tells ELLE UK. "It's good. We're all grown-up. She happens to be someone who is very visible, but I don't think anybody cares what I'm up to. Nor should they. It's between us. It's better to set an example for kids and show that [break-ups] don't have to be about hate." Orlando's first public comments on the breakup reflect something Katy wrote on Twitter in March. "How bout a new way of thinking for 2017!?" Katy wrote.…

Thanks for the "Memories": Chainsmokers heading for #1 chart debut

The Chainsmokers are so hot right now that it'd be amazing if their debut album wasn't on track for a #1 debut.  But of course, it is. The EDM duo, who just performed on Saturday Night Live and scored 22 Billboard Music Award nominations, could sell more than 200,000 units of the new disc, Memories...Do Not Open, according to industry predictions.  While the duo has dominated the singles chart in the last year, Memories...Do Not Open will be their first #1 full-length album.  They previously released two EPs: Collage, which reached #6, and 2015's Bouquet, which reached #31.  The Chainsmokers'…

Nick Cannon denies involvement in Mariah Carey-Bryan Tanaka break-up

Nick Cannon says he had nothing to do with the reported Mariah Carey and Bryan Tanaka break-up. In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, the Wild 'N Star said he wasn't even aware of their recent split. "I know nothing about this," Cannon tells ET. "I got too many of my own relationship issues to be worried about an old relationship." According to Cannon, the split, which a source told ET happened partly because Tanaka had "long been jealous" of Carey's "still-close relationship with Cannon," came as a surprise him.  Also a surprise: Tanaka's reported jealously. "Most men are jealous of me. I'm joking. But I know nothing about it,"…
