Hozier on Grammy-Nominated Hit: "It's About Sex"

"It's about sex," says the singer-songwriter, who was born Andrew Byrne-Hozier.  So why the church metaphor? He tells People magazine, "I grew up in a society where a lot of values were inherited from the Catholic Church, and its doctrine teaches people to be ashamed of those aspects about themselves.  But lovemaking is a very human, wonderful thing to…

"Just got back from a great vacation, came online and saw apparently it's shocking and unheard of to be a woman and have cellulite. Lol," she wrote. "Lyrically speaking, there's a lot of kind of conflict in the record," Reynolds says. "As the lyricist, I really was writing a lot about deciding what things were real in my life, [and] what was false." That time of reflection is expressed in the music of Smoke + Mirrors, too.
