Iggy Azalea Was Upset After Nicki Minaj’s BET Awards Speech

Looks like Nicki Minaj's shady acceptance speech at the 2014 BET Awards got the best of Iggy Azalea. The Australian rapper's boyfriend, NBA player Nick Young, revealed that he had to lift her spirits after indirectly being called out for not writing her own raps. "I had to deal with the the aftermath of all that," the Los Angeles Laker player told the New York Daily News during the ESPYS. "When she came home and was going through her phones, hearing everybody talking trash about her. I had to be there for her." Although Nicki later denied that she was talking…

OneRepublic's Ryan Tedder on Difference Between Writing Band's Hits & Hits for Others

Ryan Tedder is rarely off the Billboard charts:  if he's not scoring hits with OneRepublic, he's writing singles for other artists. For example, he co-wrote Maroon 5's latest top 10, "Maps."   But Ryan says writing songs for his band and writing them for other artists is very different, because it all comes down to who actually performs those songs. Speaking to the British magazine FAULT, Ryan says, "OneRepublic songs are a lot harder for me. I compare it to theater. A OneRepublic album is a play written, directed, produced, performed by us, by me." He adds, "When it’s for…

MAGIC! Frontman "Couldn't Stand" #1 Hit "Rude" at First: "It Was *Too* Catchy"

After weeks in the top 10, "Rude" by the Canadian band MAGIC! has finally hit #1, deposing Iggy Azalea's "Fancy" after seven weeks.  Ironically, after the band's frontman came up with the song's instantly-memorable chorus, he disliked it so much that he had no interest in writing the rest of the tune. MAGIC! singer Nasri tells ABC News Radio that it was the band's guitarist Mark Pelli who pushed him to complete "Rude."  "He was just fighting for it and I was just like, 'I just don't like it,'" Nasri recalls. "I think it was too catchy.  I was just…

Report: Britney Spears Accidentally Ditches Bill at Cheesecake Factory

Britney Spears has plenty of money in the bank, but that didn't stop her from dashing out of a Cheesecake Factory in Thousand Oaks, California, without paying her tab. Sources tell TMZ the 32-year-old singer and her boyfriend, David Lucado, were having lunch, which included an appetizer and a salad. At the end of the meal, the source continues, the waitress came over with a bill for $30, which Britney said her security guy would pay. Then she and Lucado walked out. Unfortunately, adds the source, the bill never got paid. Spears' reps tell the entertainment website she feels "horrible,"…

Drake Pokes Fun at Macklemore, Iggy at ESPYS; Chris Brown Makes an Appearance

Drake took some playful jabs at Macklemore and Iggy Azalea as host of the ESPYS award show on Wednesday night. During one segment of the ESPN ceremony, which was held at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles, Drake performed a song titled "Honorable Mention" -- a tribute to athletes who have failed to win a championship. Singing to Oklahoma City Thunder basketball player Kevin Durant, Drake quipped, "I know you understand real talent doesn't always win championships, like real music doesn't always win Grammys." A photo of Macklemore with a Grammy in hand was then shown on a screen behind…

Man Breaks Into Kennedy Compound in Mass. Looking for Katy Perry

Katy Perry has never been known to hang out with the Kennedy family, but that didn't stop one man from breaking into the family's compound in Massachusetts in search of the singer. WCVB-TV reports that James Lacroix, a 53-year-old disabled veteran from Cape Cod, Massachusetts, broke into the Hyannisport, Massachusetts home of Ted Kennedy Jr. on Tuesday.  When police responded to the break-in, they found Lacroix sitting on a couch, reading a book and chatting with Kennedy's son. Lacroix, who apparently had been in the home for hours, told them he was looking for Katy Perry, and the late President…

Iggy's "Fancy" Finally Falls to MAGIC!'s "Rude"

Being rude has finally topped being fancy, at least on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.  After seven weeks at #1, Iggy Azalea's "Fancy" has finally fallen to #2, and MAGIC!'s reggae hit "Rude" has ascended to the top spot on the chart. This marks the first time in more than 12 years that a Canadian band has topped the U.S. charts -- MAGIC! is from Toronto.  The last time was back in 2001, when Nickelback was on top with "How You Remind Me."  This also marks the first reggae song to top the charts since Sean Paul's 2003 smash "Get…

"No Truth" to Rumor that Adele Has Confirmed Album and World Tour for 2015

The Internet was ablaze on Wednesday with the news that Adele had confirmed that she's prepping a new album and a world tour for 2015.  Except, she didn't. The Twitter account for the World Music Awards posted the following information on Tuesday: "#adele confirms 2015 Tour After The Release Of Her New Album ‘25’!"   However, Adele herself hasn't tweeted anything of the sort, and her record label hasn't announced anything either.  In addition, the chairman of Beggars Group, the parent company of Adele's label, tells Billboard that there is "no truth in this." As for why the World Music…

Who's That Girl? Sia Debuts at #1 with "1000 Forms of Fear"

An artist who promoted her album without ever showing her face publicly has managed to debut at #1 on the Billboard chart. Sia, the Australian artist best known for writing Rihanna's #1 hit "Diamonds," and for co-writing and singing on both David Guetta's "Titanium" and Flo Rida's "Wild Ones," has scored her first #1 album on the Billboard Top 200 chart with her latest disc, 1000 Forms of Fear. While Sia technically "made the rounds" promoting the disc and its single, "Chandelier," she did it in a unique way.  She appeared on the cover of Billboard magazine -- with a…
