Taylor Swift Brings One of her Favorite Stories to Life with Small, but Pivotal Role in "The Giver"

Taylor Swift had several reasons to say yes to taking the small, but pivotal role of Rosemary in the new film, The Giver. On top of getting the chance to share a scene with Oscar winner Jeff Bridges, who plays her father, this acting gig allowed Taylor to help tell a story that had a profound impact on the way she sees the world. The Giver is based on Lois Lowry's futuristic novel of the same name, and Taylor first read it in fifth grade. She says, "I didn't do a lot of thinking about the distant future as far…

Zedd Talks Ariana Grande's "Break Free," Scooter Braun Says We'll Be "Blown Away" by Her VMA Performance

Ariana Grande's latest hit "Break Free," a collaboration with Zedd, marks her first foray into the world of EDM.  The two artists didn't know each other beforehand, but Zedd says he begged for the chance to work with her as soon as he heard her voice. The way Zedd tells it, he was hanging out backstage with his parents at a showcase where various artists on his record label were performing.  When Ariana took the stage to sing, he couldn't see her, but he sure could hear her...and that's what sold him.  "We didn't know who it was, but everyone…

Hits By Lorde, OneRepublic, No Doubt & More on Pharrell-Curated "NBA 2K15" Soundtrack

Not long ago, Pharrell Williams announced he would be curating the soundtrack for NBA 2K15, the latest installment of the popular basketball video game.  Now, the track listing has been revealed, and it's every bit as eclectic as Pharrell himself. The soundtrack, posted by the official NBA2K Twitter account, reveals quite a few cuts from Pharrell himself.  "Happy" isn't included, though his collabo with Snoop Dogg, "Drop It Like It's Hot," is.  He's also selected the No Doubt song "Spiderwebs," likely due to his longstanding friendship with No Doubt front woman and fellow Voice coach Gwen Stefani.  Lorde's "Team" is…

Harry Styles Goes Cupcake Crazy in Washington, D.C.

What keeps a hungry pop star going while he's on tour?  Cupcakes.  At least that's true for One Direction's Harry Styles. As People magazine reports, when 1D performed in Washington, D.C., Harry stopped by the D.C. outpost of Sprinkles Cupcakes on Sunday night. He ordered 14 of the sweet treats: red velvet, raspberry, vanilla, black-and-white, dark chocolate, lemon and vanilla milk chocolate.  Harry must've liked what he tasted, because the next day, he sent his manager to pick up 150 additional cupcakes, "heavy on [the] banana [ones]," for 1D's crew.  Of course, if he was still dating Taylor Swift, she…

Justin Timberlake Challenges Jimmy Fallon to #ALSIceBucketChallenge

Justin Timberlake may get his female fans -- and maybe some male fans, too -- all hot and bothered, but he was the one dumping a bucket of ice water over his head recently.  The singer accepted a nomination from Patrick Downes and Jessica Kensky, two survivors of the Boston Marathon bombing, for the #ALSIceBucketChallenge.  Justin had 24 hours to douse himself with a bucket of ice water, or donate $100 to help find a cure for ALS, a progressive, degenerative nerve disease.  Justin and his band, The Tennessee Kids, accepted the challenge, and now he's challenging his BFF Jimmy…

Enrique Iglesias Says "Bailando" Is "Different" & "Refreshing"

Fifteen years after he first topped the charts with his song "Bailamos" -- "We Dance" -- Enrique Iglesias has another hit on his hand with "Bailando," whose title simply means "Dancing."  The song features Jamaican star Sean Paul and two Cuban artists, and Enrique says that mutli-cultural feel is what's made the song a hit. "'Bailando' works well because it sounds different," Enrique tells ABC News Radio. "I think it sounds different on the radio and it's got a Caribbean feel with a little bit of that reggaeton, with Jamaican, Spanish, flamenco...it just has a little bit of everything."  He…

The "Crazy Idea" That Led to Taylor Swift's Role in "The Giver"

Most people who aren't professional actors have to audition for roles in big Hollywood films, but Taylor Swift isn't most people.
