His fifth film in the series, Mission: Impossible -- Rogue Nation, opened in first place, earning an estimated 56 million dollars.
The weekend's other new film, the comedy reboot Vacation, didn't fare nearly as well. The Ed Helms flick collected just 14.9 million dollars from Friday through Sunday. It has made 21.2 million since opening last Wednesday.

The 39-year-old South African-born Oscar winner adopted an African-American baby girl named August, who was born in the United States in July.
