News » O.C. Airport project under way
June 18, 2012 Crews are working at the Outagamie County Regional Airport to improve the runways and taxiways.
Construction started recently to rebuild one of the taxiways, as part of a $6.7 million project. They're also rebuilding one of the runways, and adding a new taxiway on the east side of the property.
County Executive Tom Nelson says it's important to invest in the county's infrastructure, and air service.
Nelson says the airport is also an industrial park of sorts, thanks to Gulfstream, Fed Ex, and Air Wisconsin. He says those companies provide a lot of good-paying jobs.
The FAA is paying for 90 percent of the project, and the state and county will split the rest.
Construction should be finished before winter.
