News » Group wants to raise sales tax for kids
Feb. 10, 2010 There's a push to raise the state's sales tax by a penny to help cash-strapped public schools.
Tom Beebe of the Wisconsin Alliance of Excellent Schools says it wouldn't be long-term solution, but it would help them off-set recent state budget cuts.
Beebe admits it will be tough to convince lawmakers to pass a sales tax increase. But he says it would be easier than trying to reform the school funding system. Supporters are collecting signatures on-line.
