News » Winneconne schools holding referendum
Mar. 31, 2010 With the current $880,000 referendum set to expire, the Winneconne school district is asking voters to renew it, and add $170,000 on top of that.
Karen Moore is the district's director of business services, and she says the district is seeking the money for essentials, and nothing more.
Moore says like many other districts, Winneconne is struggling financially because of the state-imposed revenue caps.
She says if voters turn down the funding for the next two school years, the board will have to make a series of cuts. Moore says they could include middle school sports, the entire tutoring program, and music and art teachers.
The referendum would cost the average property taxpayer another $36 a year. |
