News » Doctors warn of whooping cough in California
July 9, 2010 Wisconsin doctors are warning travelers to California about whooping cough.
Dr. Ellen Wald of American Family Children's Hospital in Madison says health officials in California are already reporting 13,000 cases.
Whooping cough is controlled through a series of vaccines given to infants. But since the vaccine loses effectiveness over time, doctors now recommend booster shots for young teens and adults, especially those with infants at home. |
