News » 'Convey of Hope' seeks 1,000 volunteers
July 12, 2010 The Convoy of Hope is rolling into the Fox Cities next month, and organizers are hoping volunteers will pitch in.
Pastor Aaron Soto of Apostolic Truth Church of Appleton says the convoy will provide a variety of services to those in need, including food, school supplies, haircuts and medical attention.
He says Christ the Rock Church started organizing next month's event, and 100 congregations in the area are joining in.
Soto says they're holding the Convoy of Hope on Saturday, Aug. 14 at Maplewood middle school in Menasha, and they're looking for 1,000 volunteers to make it a success. He says people can sign up on their website.
Soto says the event is sending a strong message that the community does care about people who have fallen on hard times.
