News » Storms drop most rain in 20 years

July 15, 2010
The Appleton area is drying out today, after getting dumped on by the biggest one-day rainfall in 20 years.

National Weather Service Meteorologist Roy Eckberg says Appleton received nearly 4.5 inches of rain yesterday.  He says the last time the city saw a four-inch rain total was in June 1990.

The rain came from three separate lines of severe thunderstorms.  Eckberg says it's very unusual to have that much severe weather in one day.

Eckberg says dry weather will stay in the area through Saturday, but storms could return late Saturday night and Sunday.
