News » Proposed panel could help fight weed problem
July 15, 2010 A member of a panel in Dane County that oversees that areas lakes says a Lake Winnebago commission could help solve the lake's weed problem.
Brett Hulsey sits on the Dane County Lakes and Watershed Commission. He says since the group was formed in 1995, they've made a lot of progress in reducing the amount of phosphorus that enters the water. Hulsey says that work led to less weeds in the lakes.
He says a similar multi-county commission in our area could produce similar results.
The East Central Wisconsin Regional Planning Commission is talking about creating a Lake Winnebago Commission that would have the authority to create laws that would govern the lake.
The plan commission will talk more about the idea at its October meeting. |
