News » LU prof picked to study Toyota problem
July 30, 2010 An economics professor at Lawrence University is helping a national committee come up with a solution to prevent future problems in the auto industry.
David Gerard is on the panel that's looking into the causes of unintended vehicle acceleration. He says engineers and scientists are trying to figure out why it's happening, and he will help them decide if Congress or the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration should create new regulations or force recalls to fix the problem.
Gerard says the panel will meet each month through the end of the year, and they'll issue a report next June. |
