News » N.L. man guilty of neighbor's murder
Mar. 30, 2012 A Waupaca County jury convicted a New London man for killing his neighbor for rent money.
35-year-old Chad Magolski of New London faces a mandatory sentence of life in prison, for the December 2007 murder of 77-year-old James Park.
Court records say Magolski was late on his rent, and several days after the landlord asked for the money, the landlord found Park stabbed to death in his own apartment.
Park lived downstairs from Magolski in a house in the 300 block of N. Shawano Street.
Prosecutors say Magolski believed Park had a lot of money, and a $50 bill that was in Magolski's rent envelope may have had traces of Park's DNA on it.
They say the murder weapon may be a clean knife in Park's kitchen that had traces of Park's DNA on it.
After a four-day trial, Waupaca County jurors found Magolski guilty of first-degree intentional homicide.
A judge could set a parole eligibility date for Magolski next month. |
