News » Parts of collective bargaining law thrown out
Mar. 30, 2012 A federal judge says parts of the state's collective bargaining law are illegal, but most of it will remain.
Judge William Conley ruled Friday that the state can't ban unions from automatically withdrawing dues from employee checks, and can't require members to recertify the union every year.
Conley rejected an argument that the entire law violates the U.S. Constitution.
The state must start deducting union dues from employee checks by the end of May. |
