News » Prof: Barrett's bid a 'game changer' for Dems
Apr. 2, 2012 Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett's decision to enter the recall race for Governor is really shaking things up. That's according to UW-Green Bay political science professor Michael Kraft.
Kraft says Democrats didn't have a very strong candidate, with statewide appeal, before Barrett's announcement. He says that was after going through all of the work to force the recall in the first place.
Kraft says the fact that Barrett is not the union favorite could actually work in his favor. But he says it will likely make for a contentious primary.
Barrett is calling on his fellow Democrats to avoid running negative campaigns. He says they need to stay focused on restoring Wisconsin values.
Sen. Kathleen Vinehout of Alma, former Dane County Executive Kathleen Falk, and Secretary of State Doug La Follette are also in the race. |
