News » 'Pink slime' providing boost to local meat markets
Apr. 2, 2012 Recent news stories about so-called "pink slime" are driving more consumers back to traditional meat markets.
Luke Jacobs of Jacobs Market in Appleton says since the story surfaced, they're seeing many new customers who don't want the beef byproduct in their ground meat.
Jacobs says they're having a hard time keeping up with demand for their ground round, which is ground fresh every morning and doesn't contain pink slime.
Richard Niemuth of Niemuth's Southside Market is also noticing an up-tick in business. He says they focus on providing fresh, quality meat. |
