News » Appleton voter turnout could reach 45%
Apr. 3, 2012 About 45 percent of voters in Appleton could head to the polls today. That's the prediction of City Clerk Cindy Hesse.
Election officials believe the statewide turnout will be around 35 percent.
Hesse says Appleton typically has a higher turnout than the state average, and there are three major issues on today's ballot -- the Republican presidential primary, the race for Appleton mayor, and the Fox Valley Technical College referendum.
Hesse says people won't have to show a photo ID at the polls, because of ongoing legal challenges, but some of the voting changes are still in place. She says that includes the 28-day residency rule before people can register to vote, and the requirement that voters sign the poll list. |
