News » Clinic bombing suspect wants to plead guilty
Apr. 4, 2012 An outspoken Grand Chute man says he wants to plead guilty to a federal arson charge for a weekend bombing at a Planned Parenthood clinic.
Federal prosecutors are charging 50-year-old Francis Grady with arson for putting a homemade bomb on the windowsill at the Grand Chute facility on Sunday night. The explosion and subsequent small fire caused minor damage.
Grady made his first court appearance in Green Bay this afternoon, and he told Judge William Griesbach he wanted to plead guilty today.
He questioned Griesbach's description of the building as a health care clinic, saying "Do they kill babies there for abortion?" He also asked what they did with, "the thousand babies they killed there."
Grady could spend up to 20 years in prison if he's convicted, and a minimum of five years. He asked Griesbach if it was federal prison, like Levenworth "and all the other good stuff."
He'll be back in court April 19 for a preliminary hearing. |
