News » Schneider National trucks damaged by tornado
Apr. 4, 2012 A tornado that swept through the Dallas, Texas area yesterday tossed around some of the semis owned by Schneider National.
The Green Bay-based company has an operating center just south of the downtown, and spokeswoman Janet Bonkowski says there's massive damage to their tractors and trailers.
There's video footage on national TV of the twister picking up trailers and throwing them to the ground.
Bonkowski says the tractors weigh about 20,000 pounds, and an empty trailer weighs another 14,000 pounds. When they're full, Bonkowski says trailers can weigh about 46,000 pounds.
Bonkowski says there are no reports of injuries. She says 200 to 300 trucks pass through their facility every day, and about 60 people work in the office there. |
