News » Korean War vets up next for honor flights
Apr. 5, 2012 By this time next year, Old Glory Honor Flight could be bringing Korean War veterans to Washington D.C. to see the war memorials.
Drew MacDonald is the president of the organization's northeast Wisconsin chapter. He says 200 World War II veterans are still on their waiting list, and that number will likely grow, but they've scheduled enough flights to possibly bring them all to the nation's capitol this year.
MacDonald says once the World War II list is completed, they'll start flying Korean War veterans to Washington D.C. for the day. After that they'll focus on Vietnam veterans.
The Old Glory Honor Flight that took off this morning includes the group's 1,000th World War II veteran.
The plane will return to the Outagamie County Regional Airport around 8:20 p.m. The public is encouraged to welcome them home. |
