News » Senators still working on mining bill
Apr. 6, 2012 The mining bill died in the Senate last month, but two state Senators are still trying to find a way to streamline the permitting process, while protecting the public and environment.
Democrat Bob Jauch and Republican Dale Schultz met with Governor Walker recently, and Jauch says they found themselves in agreement on some issues.
Schultz cast the deciding vote that killed the Republican sponsored mining bill in the Senate. He is also optimistic for the future
Both senators are optimistic that former DNR Secretary George Meyer, and Wisconsin Mining Association president Tim Sullivan, can help find the way to a workable compromise. |
