News » Appleton woman worked on abuse law
Apr. 10, 2012 An Appleton woman's efforts to hold repeat domestic abusers accountable paid off yesterday.
Heather Severson was in Madison, to watch Governor Walker sign a law that's in honor of Severson's friend, Tracy Judd, and Judd's daughter, Deja. They were killed by Tyrone Adair in the Madison area, in 2009.
Now, if someone is arrested for domestic abuse two times within 72 hours, or three times in 10 years, prosecutors can charge them with a felony.
Severson says the law gives their deaths a purpose and meaning.
Adair also killed an ex-girlfriend, and their child, before he took his own life. |
