News » Police chief weighs in on DNA collection
Apr. 10, 2012 Neenah's police chief says collecting DNA from people arrested for certain felonies and sex-related crimes could be a good idea.
Governor Walker wants to include that in his next state budget. Right now, they only take them after a conviction, or if officers get a warrant.
Neenah Police Chief Kevin Wilkinson says officers might solve cases sooner, if they can collect DNA samples right away. He says it's not clear who would pick up the tab for the sample collection kits.
Wilkinson says he also understands some people have concerns about collecting a DNA sample before someone is convicted of a crime. |
