News » Appleton Papers wins ruling in PCB cleanup
Apr. 12, 2012 One of the paper companies forced to remove PCB contaminated sediment from the Fox River is no longer responsible for the river's cleanup costs.
Appleton Papers Inc. and the NCR Corporation have been paying for the vast majority of the dredging work on the lower Fox River in recent years.
A federal judge dismissed all charges against Appleton Papers earlier this week. Company spokeswoman Katherine Querard says they've spent about $200 million on the project, and their attorneys could try to recoup some of that money.
The decision doesn't affect the NCR Corporation.
About 10 other defendants are involving in ongoing court cases.
A federal judge is hearing arguments today, on how the cleanup work on the river will continue. |
