News » Appleton top-ranked city for hunting, fishing
Apr. 12, 2012 The hunting and fishing opportunities in northeast Wisconsin helped get Appleton to the top of a magazine's rankings of the best hunting and fishing towns in the country.
Outdoor Life Senior Editor John Taranto says many hunting experts consider Wisconsin to be the best whitetail deer hunting state in the country, and many of the biggest bucks came from within 50 miles of Appleton.
He says we'll likely see more out-of-state hunters coming to Wisconsin in the next few years.
Taranto says Lake Winnebago, the Fox River, and Green Bay also offer great fishing opportunities.
Appleton was the only city in Wisconsin to make the magazine's Top 35 list. |
