News » Activist hopes PCB ruling gets overturned
Apr. 13, 2012 A longtime advocate for forcing area paper mills to clean PCBs from the Fox River says the project will continue, even if one of the main mills paying for the cleanup doesn't have to anymore.
A federal judge dismissed all charges in the case against Appleton Papers Inc. earlier this week.
Activist Rebecca Katers says the costs will likely be passed on to others.
Appleton Papers has spent about $200 million on the cleanup effort, and that's more than the other companies.
Lawyers for the paper mills were in federal court yesterday, to talk about how to proceed with the cleanup effort.
Katers says she thinks Judge William Griesbach's decision will eventually be overturned. |
