Apr. 13, 2012 A Green County judge is blocking a state order that Berlin high school change its mascot.
Five taxpayers in the school district filed a lawsuit, after the department of public instruction ruled against the school's "Indians" nickname, under a state law that bans race-based mascots.
The judge issued a temporary injunction.
In a different lawsuit, a judge in southeast Wisconsin permanently blocked the department's attempt to change Mukwonago high school's "Indians" nickname.
The state justice department is appealing that decision. |
