News » DNR hoping for quick decision on PCB cleanup
Apr. 13, 2012 The DNR and about 10 paper companies are awaiting a judge's decision on how PCB cleanup work will proceed on the Fox River.
Judge William Greisbach ruled earlier this week that Appleton Papers Inc. is not responsible for the pollution in the river, leaving the remaining companies as defendants in the lawsuit.
DNR water program leader Beth Olson says work was supposed to restart earlier this month. She hopes the judge announces a cleanup plan soon, or the companies figure it out on their own.
Olson says further delays could significantly set the project back. Under the current schedule, the PCB cleanup won't be completed until 2017.
A trial is scheduled in December, but Olson says she expects Judge Greisbach will make a ruling in the next week or two. |
