Kaukauna Utilities is 100 years old.
Officials marked the anniversary yesterday by holding an open house for the community.
General manager Jeff Feldt says they're also looking to the future by replacing their two hydroelectric plants with a new $38 million facility. He says because they generate 20 percent of their power from their two hydroelectric plants, they're saving customers a lot of money.
Feldt says the Kaukauna city council bought the electrical system from the previous power company for $50,000. He says the city added the water system a year later, in 1913. |
