News » WIAA hoops decision mixed for Resch Center

Apr. 25, 2012
The state girls basketball tournament is moving to the Green Bay area for a couple of years, but the boys will stay in Madison.

Ken Wachter of PMI Entertainment runs the Resch Center in Ashwaubenon, and he says the decision by the WIAA Board of Control is sort of a mixed bag. He says they're going to do everything they can to make the girls tournament an incredible success.

Wachter says the tournament typically draws about 38,000 to 40,000 people. He says PMI wants them to feel like they don't want to go anywhere else.

WIAA administrators initially recommended moving both tournaments to the Resch Center, because of conflicts at the Kohl Center. The girls tournament will be at the Resch Center for two years, before it moves back to the Kohl Center in 2015.
