News » Calumet Co. murder suspect reaches deal
Apr. 25, 2012 There's a plea deal in place for one of the men charged with a Calumet County murder.
30-year-old Robert Saurbier of Manitowoc and 35-year-old James Loewe of Hilbert are accused of beating Joseph Baer to death in March of last year, at a farm in Rantoul. They were originally charged with first-degree intentional homicide.
Saurbier agreed to enter a no contest plea to one count of first-degree reckless homicide.
Loewe is scheduled to be back in court next month for a plea hearing.
Court records say Saurbier and Loewe used a hammer, pipe, chain, and stick to kill Baer. |
