News » Hopper cleared of final charge in OWI arrest
Apr. 25, 2012 A judge cleared a former state lawmaker of the final charge from an arrest for driving drunk.
Randy Hopper represented the Fond du Lac area in the senate, and last month, a jury found him not guilty of driving drunk, or crossing the centerline.
Fond du Lac County Judge Robert Wirtz dismissed an accusation that Hopper failed to submit to a second breathalyzer test.
Attorney Dennis Melowski of Sheboygan says a deputy testified that Hopper passed the field sobriety tests, and jurors found some contradictions in a 911 call.
Melowski says the jury's decision casts doubt on Hopper's accusers.
Hopper had a preliminary blood-alcohol level of 0.13. Deputies didn't ask for a blood test. |
