News » Neenah teachers may face retirement cut
Apr. 25, 2012 A proposal to change the retirement benefits for teachers in the Neenah school district drew a crowd to last night's board meeting.
High school math teacher Bob Townsend says because of the collective bargaining law, administrators can move forward without any input from staff members. He says they at least talked with teachers last year, when they were developing a handbook.
Townsend says the changes would impact some teachers more than others. He says people who are two years away from retirement would only receive one-third of what they thought they would get.
About 150 people were at last night's meeting, and many of them were teachers.
The school board didn't take any action. Members could consider the changes in a couple of weeks. |
