News » Prof.: Walker must address jobs report
Apr. 26, 2012 A political analyst says a report showing Wisconsin was last in the country in job creation over the most recent 12-month period will require some explanation from Governor Walker.
UW-Green Bay political science professor Michael Kraft says the governor pledged to create 250,000 private sector jobs, and while most of the losses are in the public sector, they're still lost jobs. He says the governor will likely highlight the positive numbers from January and February, and argue that it's a sign things are starting to move in the right direction.
Kraft says Walker is also pointing to the job loss numbers in Milwaukee, where Democrat Tom Barrett is the mayor. He says Barrett can try to refute that.
The report from the federal Bureau of Labor Statistics shows Wisconsin lost 23,900 public and private jobs between last month, and March of last year. |
