News » Arson suspect targeted home, car
Apr. 27, 2012 Police say the suspects in three arson fires on Green Bay's far eastside specifically targeted the victims.
Authorities arrested 18-year-old Chaka Gilson and 18-year-old Devon Johnson yesterday.
Lt. Jody Buth says Gilson lived at a duplex on Harvey Street for a short time, and they're accused of setting the front porch on fire early yesterday morning. He says they also started a car on fire, outside of a Smith Street home, and set an earlier arson fire there on Sunday.
Buth says Gilson had issues with people who live at both places.
Buth says police caught them yesterday morning, after a high-speed chase. He says they were in a stolen car, and police ended the chase, for safety reasons.
Buth says they blanketed an area with officers, and one of them saw the suspects walking near the abandoned car.
Buth says it doesn't look like Gilson and Johnson were involved in another fire, at an apartment on N. Clay Street. Police say someone threw a Molotov cocktail through a window, into a room where three children were sleeping. |
