News » Two counties making progress on radio system
Apr. 30, 2012 Outagamie and Winnebago counties are getting closer to having a communication system that works with equipment at both of their sheriff's departments.
The counties started working toward a uniform system about 12 years ago, through the Fox Comm program, but Outagamie County Sheriff Brad Gehring says they're now working on their own project.
Winnebago County's system could be running by the end of the year, while Outagamie County's will likely start next year.
Governor Walker was also in Fond du lac today, to launch the WISCOM system. That system will help police agencies across the state communicate more efficiently.
Gehring says they'll use that system when an deputy travels outside of their radio range, or when they respond to a large-scale emergency. |
