News » Johnson calls on Senate to pass a budget
Apr. 30, 2012 A first-term U.S. Senator from Oshkosh says it's been far too long since Congress passed a budget.
Republican Sen. Ron Johnson marked yesterday's three-year anniversary of the Senate's approval of the last budget.
Johnson says the federal reserve has kept interest rates artificially low in recent years, while deficit spending continued. He says if the rates reach recent averages, the country would be spending $600 billion a year, or 60 percent of the nation's discretionary funds, on interest.
Johnson accused President Obama and Congressional Democrats of not being serious about passing a budget. He says people deserve to see a plan to get the federal government to spend within its means. |
