News » Hilbert hit hard by flooding
May 4, 2012 It's going to take a while for some Hilbert homes to dry out, after yesterday's storms.
Hilbert administrator Dennis DuPrey says the storms that rolled through northeast Wisconsin yesterday morning dumped five inches of rain in his community, over two to three hours, and it was too much water for the sewer system to take.
He says creeks became rivers, and the storm sewer backed up into some basements. He says at least 16 homes have severe flood damage.
DuPrey says part of the problem was that flood water from the country clogged sewer drains with corn stalks, and other debris.
In other parts of the area, the storm washed out a road in Brillion, and there are a number of flooded basements in Oshkosh. |
