News » Work to start in 2012 on Reid storm ponds

May 7, 2012
Appleton city council is on board with a plan to put stormwater retention ponds project at Reid municipal golf course on the fast track.

The city is shifting funding for a stormwater project at Appleton East high school this year, to the Reid project.

Facilities and parks director Dean Gazza says they can start building the ponds next year, if they can clear a number of trees yet this year. He says that way, they'll only have to close the course for the 2013 golf season.

Gazza says that part of the city needs help to prevent floods.

Crews were originally supposed to start the Reid project next year.  The funding shift will now delay the Appleton East project until next year.
