News » State wants to continue tourism momentum
May 7, 2012 Wisconsin's tourism industry experienced a boost in business last year, and state officials hope to continue that momentum.
Tourism secretary Stephanie Klett says visitor spending climbed 7.6 percent, and she's giving partial credit to a marketing campaign that highlights the fun things to do in the state.
Visitors spent nearly $10 billion in Wisconsin last year, and that led to nearly $16 billion in sales for tourism-related businesses.
Klett says the department is going to focus on ways to bring more tourists to the northwoods this year. She says the numbers were flat in that part of the state in 2011. |
