Kaukauna's Park Community charter school is nearing the end of its first year, and already it's gaining some national attention.
The National Energy Education Development program is giving the school its national "Rookie of the Year" award, as well as the "Wisconsin Primary School of the Year" award.
Principal Ken Kortens says the awards show that the school's community-based approach to education is working.
The awards ceremony will be in Washington D.C. at the end of June.
Kortens says the school works closely with Kaukauna Utilities to show students first-hand how energy is produced, and that sets the school apart from many others. |
