News » Little Chute sex offender rules working
May 8, 2012 Green Bay's city council is revisiting its law that bans registered sex offenders from living close to schools, parks, and other areas where children gather, because many offenders are not telling authorities where they live.
Little Chute passed its own residency law in 2007, and Investigator Jim Brandt of the Fox Valley Metro police department says it's working well.
Before registered sex offenders move to Little Chute, they have to file an application with the village, and appear at a hearing before a sex offender residency committee.
Brandt says about 75 percent of the applicants are approved.
He says since the law went into effect, officers have only found a few offenders weren't registered with the state. |
