News » ThedaCare planning new Shawano hospital
May 9, 2012 Shawano will have a new hospital in two years.
ThedaCare is going to replace the 81-year-old Shawano Medical Center, and the planning process is just getting under way.
Director of facilities and planning Alfred Park says they already have a site, at the corner of Highways 22 and B.
Park says the current hospital is obsolete, and they decided it was better to build a new facility, rather than remodel.
ThedaCare hired HGA Architects and Engineers of Milwaukee to design the building, and the Boldt Company will be the contractor.
Park says they're reaching out to the community for input, while they develop the plans.
The hospital will be known as ThedaCare Medical Center-Shawano, and construction is supposed to start next year. The facility would then open in the fall of 2014. |
